BEACH ACCESS REPORT
As of July 20 5pm, NY State Parks reopened the inlet (north) side of Democrat to 4x4 beach access.
The pair of Plover hatchlings that occupied the inlet side were eaten by a Black Back Gull.
The South Side Beach area (ocean) side remains closed at this time.
We will keep the membership advised of changes as new facts comes to our attention.

FYI, Piping Plover Eggs Hatch 21 days after laid, then Fledgling takes 32 days.
We do not yet have reopening dates but we will share news when in hand.
Smith Point County Park: The Outer Beach at Smith Point is now closed due to piping plover nesting. BURMA ROAD is closed and there is no access to Moriches Inlet at this time. There is currently no Outer Beach camping at Smith Point until further notice. For up-to-date conditions please call the Park Office at (631)852-1315.
Cupsogue Beach County Park: Access to the Outer beach is open. There is no beach front driving.
Montauk County Park: The Outer Beach is open for camping and day tripping. For up-to-date conditions please call the Park Office at (631)852-7879
Shinnecock East: Limited access for day trips (please follow park signs for access locations). Sites 66-103 are currently closed for camping. If you have a reservation at one of these sites, please call our office at (631) 854-4949 for site relocation or cancellation.
Charles F. Altenkirch County Park, formerly known as Shinnecock West County Park: Outer Beach is open from September 15 – March 15. Limited parking is available, for County residents, in the parking lot adjacent to the inlet.
Cedar Point County Park: the Outer Beach is Open for day trips only.
Gilgo Closed no access
Sore Thumb Fully opened
Napeaque Hither Hills opened, Hither North side has some bird closings.
Montauk Point is open
Gateway National seashore Closed Walk on only
Fire island National seashore Closed till labor day
Democrat Point - The South Cut to Ocean Beach Area is closed
The North side (Inlet side) is Open

There is limited access for day trippers.
